Handle duplicates
Portals may hold older entries for the same business. Duplicate entries can hurt ranking, so review them regularly.
| Step | Endpoint |
|---|---|
| 1. List duplicates of a location | GET Duplicates with id = location ID. Filter with duplicateStatus |
| 2. Inspect one duplicate | GET Duplicate |
| 3a. Request suppression at the portal | PUT Suppress duplicate with locationId and duplicateId |
| 3b. Ignore a false positive | DELETE Ignore duplicate with locationId and duplicateId |
Duplicate statuses are POSSIBLE_DUPLICATE, SUPPRESSION_REQUESTED, SUPPRESSED, UNAVAILABLE and DELETED.
Compare name, address and phone of the duplicate with the location before you suppress it. Only suppress entries that describe the same business.
